Mymensingh Hepatitis Day 2014

Liver Foundation of Bangladesh organized a day long viral hepatitis awareness program at Mymensingh district head quarter on February 1, 2014. The events of the day started with a colorful rally started from Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Museum.,Mymensingh. This is the historical Museum in the memory of Mr. Zainul Abedin, famous artist of Bangladesh.

A seminar was held at Mymensingh Zilla Shilpokola Academy. Chief Guest was Dr. Mohd. Motiur Rahman, principal, Mymensing Medical College, Special guest Md. Rafique Hoque, Deputy Director, Zilla Social welfare office and Mr. Abdullah Al Jubayer , Manager, Corporate Sustainability , HSBC, Bangladesh were present in the occasion .Dr. Mamunur Roshid and Dr. Nazmul Hakim, Life members and patrons of liver Foundation were present in the seminar.Mr. Zunaid Murshed Paiker, chief coordinator of Liver Foundation of Bangladesh and delegates from HSBC, Bangladesh were also present.
The seminar was chaired by Prof. Mohammad Ali, Secretary General, Liver foundation of Bangladesh .He thanked the Government organizations and other participants for their active support for observation of the “Mymensingh Hepatitis Day 2014” to make it successful. He also thanked HSBC Bangladesh for long continued support of the ongoing free Hepatitis B vaccination program of Liver Foundation for orphan children since 2007.
All the guests put special emphasis on awareness of viral hepatitis in this region and Bangladesh. Awareness leaflets were distributed in the seminar and different strategic pointes of Mymensingh city.
Free vaccination program was inaugurated by chief guest . In this program 340 orphan children of Sarkari Shishu Paribar boys and girls (Govenment children home) of Mymensingh received the free hepatitis B vaccine. In addition education materials were also distributed among the orphan children.
